I wasn’t sure what to expect from my first in-person bookstore event. I hoped to sell some books, not be too awkward, and be kind.

It went better than I could have imagined.

I saw a few familiar faces, but mostly I talked to strangers—about books we loved, plot holes we hated, and two of my favorite topics: The Furious Others and The Ashes of Us.

And to my surprise, I enjoyed it more than expected. Because I remembered... these are my people. The ones who say “just one more chapter.” The ones who trade in used copies, annotate in the margins, and smell the pages before they read.

Every person wasn’t a potential sale. They were a potential friend.

It was a great day. One for the books, you might say.
