Hi, I'm Ashley
In my day job, I am known as Dr. Ashley Baker, PsyD. But in my stolen moments between being a working mom and a clinical psychologist, I am a thriller writer with a heart for prose and a love of dark fiction. This is my writing page for fans of my two traditionally published novels- The Furious Others & The Ashes of Us.
My Story
Reader. Writer. Word Nerd. Storyteller. Appalachia Girl turned Georgia Peach.
I've always been an avid reader—the kind who packs more books than clothes for a trip. I believe the best writers are born from books: the ones we devour, obsess over, and can’t stop thinking about. Those stories become part of us, layering our imaginations and shaping our voices.
By day, I’m a clinical psychologist where I use metaphors and language like a scalpel and a paintbrush—therapy is its own kind of storytelling. But my fiction journey truly took off after joining a writing group at the Sharon Forks Library. Reading my work aloud (hello, public critique!) was terrifying at first—but it cracked something open. I haven’t stopped writing since.
In 2024, my debut novel The Furious Others was published by Genius Media & Publishing. My second book, The Ashes of Us, arrives in April 2025—and I still can’t believe I get to do this. Two more novels are in the wings, just waiting to take flight, and I can't wait. I am just getting started!
When I’m not scribbling plot twists or talking about trauma (professionally, of course), you’ll find me knee-deep in the garden, curled up with my family, glued to my Switch, or powering through my 100-books-a-year reading goal. I read everything—from bestsellers to indie gems, horror to romantasy—and I always have opinions. (Catch them on Goodreads and Fable.)
If you love stories, fiction with teeth, moral gray zones, and the occasional emotional gut punch—I’d love to connect. Let’s talk books.
